Cost of bottom paint job

What is the cost of getting a new boat bottom painted? Is it charged by the l-o-a of the boat?? I wanted ablative paint and the quote from the marina was an attention getter.

Have you considered a barrier coat to start out? It adds cost but will save the boat in the long run. I was quoted $1700 for 2 coats of ablative on my boat by a dealer. I decided to do it myself so I could afford the barrier coats as well. I spent $900 for all supplies to put on 6 barrier coats and two antifouling coats. It was a long process but not particularly hard. Tom

I did consider barrier coats. The dealer said it wasn't necessary. Just primer and 2 coats of ablative. How large was your boat?

I just paid $40.00 a foot for 2 coats of interlux act ablative, included haul out light sand and wash,10 meter trojan.
