anyone here familiar with Cotuit Bay,just west of Hyannis?

i need to know how deep the channel is and if the channel is marked all the way into North Bay. Looks too shallow for a 6+ draft but i'd like some local knowledge.

Pascal:
I live in that area and boat there frequently. The loop from Cotuit Bay at the Dead Neck entrance to North Bay into Osterville/West Bay and across the Seapuit river is a wonderful cruise/dinner cruise route. That being said the following apply.

Approach to Cotuit Bay entrance is very narrow with shallows on either side. The turn around Sampson's Island is also narrow and can be quite busy- especially on weekends. It is functionally much narrower than it appears on the chart. If you are considering doing this in Charmer(or other 6+draft) not something I would do as little room for error here. Yes the Channel is marked all the way into North Bay.

The easier approach is to Osterville/West Bay but again skinny water on either side of the narrow channel. Also bridge on this side again too narrow for a boat the size of Charmer.

If you make it to this area of the Cape I would be happy to show you the above from my boat.
Raced in Figawi and shouted a "hello" to you as we passed Charmer, but dont think you heard. I returned back to Hyannis right after the race secondary to work. Sorry the NE weather has not been better.

Ted
