Hi all, we are starting to plan a couple weeks on the boat for the beginning of July. Originally we were going to go to Herrington South and Crisfield. However Herrington is $2/$3 per foot ($170 a night for the w/e!) so we are rethinking. Anyone have ideas within 5 or so hours from our home port? Presently we're in GeoTown on the Sassafras, under shed, nice pool, Sat Tv. Maybe a day or two at Still Pond. Slipped in Rock Hall one year and seen it all there so that really isn't a destination on our list. St Michaels we've covered via car.
Maybe Balt. I'd like to find a few places going south and make our return trip from Crisfield. Not looking to bust the bank on this trip. If all marinas are expensive now, we'll probably just do a few local day trips on the hook.

I am not sure what you like to do, but Herrington Harbor South is worth the $3/foot a night. Another nice place with lots to do is Annapolis. If you time it right you can get on the wall in Ego Alley (http://www.ci.annapolis.md.us/info.asp?page=1320) Again they are $2/foot per night.
 
If you are looking for places that are not too expensive try the following.
Deale, West River, Kent Narrows at Mears marina, Solomons, Knapps Narrows, Oxford, Cambridge in the Municiple Marina, In the entrance to the Potomac there is a great marina in Cartaghena Creek off the St Marys River called St Marys yachting Center, and another called Point Lookout Marina. ON the south side of the Potomac there is Port Kinsale.
Halfway between Herrington and Solomons is a little hole in the wall called Flag Harbor. Very well protected and quiet and access to a beach that has fossil shark teeth.

Just in case you are a fisherman the Catfish fishing in the Cambridge marina is outstanding in the evening.

Not sure what you're looking for but Skipjack is one of the nicest marinas on the Eastern Shore and IMO, only Herrington Harbor South is nicer; I would suggest keeping HHS on your short list. Other than that I'd suggest Mears Kent Narrows if you want activity and Mears in Oxford if you want quaint and laid back. Solomons is always nice (Spring Cove is our preferred marina there). Not sure why you are planning on Crisfield. I know its an up and coming destination but its not a place we're rushing back to.... just not much there. Of course there is always Annapolis and Baltimore.
 
Thank you all for the quick responses! We'll pull out our charts this w/e and check each destination. Been here all my life and didn't know about some of the places! Crisfield is really just a retro trip. We stayed there a few days coming up from FL and liked the quaintness. Granted, our memory may be more than reality.

On the Potomac, most people never mention White Point on the Yeocomico. Quiet, but clean facilities, nice pool, yacht club members are welcoming. Rob Redfern will also lend his car if you need groceries or to go to a restaurant.
Herrington North may be a little cheaper, yes, there is a boat yard, but the grounds are nice as well as the pool and there is a restaurant with outdoor facilities.
 
If you get into the choptank, oxford is also quaint,retro,but not much to do. Choices there could be Mears,,Oxford boatyard, or Campbells. If you just wanty o duck in Knapps narrows, there are 2 improving marinas there being Knapps and Tilgman marina.
