Just saw this at the Daytona Beach boat show this weekend and my wife fell in love with everything about it. Of course I really like it too. We were mainly looking at Rinker 270 or Bayliner 285 for the largest single engine boats. I hear no matter what that twin engine is twice the maintenace which routine isn't bad but if the drives ever need replacing 2 has to be more expensive. I am looking at used 2002 or newer and I see that Cruisers offered a 8.1 Volvo or Merc with the DP or Bravo 3 drives. Now is the 375 Hp single vs 450 HP twins enough for this size boat? Also if the drives ever needed to be replaced is the Brave 3 drive single cost about the same as two 4.3 SX drives for the twins. I take it since the SX drive is a single prop vs duoprop maybe they are less expensive? I want to run in the Intercoastal waterway in Florida at times which means salt water so this is my main concern? Any help will be much appreciated and I hope someone here actually owns a single engine Cruisers Yachts 280/2870 who can say how the gas mileage is GPH and MPG and if its under powered with just the one engine? I know they dropped it in 2004 and the only engine choice now is the twin 4.3 volvo sx.
