Looking for 2 turbos for Engines 6BT5.9M CPL0742 210hp. Engine serial # 44220283 STBD #44220284 PORT

Cummins turbo part #3802594

Either new or reman. Also a rebuild shop. Located LI, NY

Thanks, Andy

Have you tried East Coast Diesel Service? Derek - 516-887-9220. When I shopped for turbo #3802590 last fall, the reman was almost as expensive as new. We went new. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Tried Mako Marine, always my first go to when Cummins Metropower cant help.

TAD is good to know about.

Nancy, I have been in touch with Derek rb2@gr5t East Coast Deisel.

Problem is I want to replace both turbos but everyone I have contacted can only get me 1.

pdecat, both turbos were hung up upon getting the boat back in the water, blowing black smoke. (My engines never smoke) I had to put a socket on 1 turbo to get it free. Then while rotating it it kept binding, not spinning freely. Upon engine shutdown the blades stopped immediately. The other turbo was hung up but I was able to get it to spin with finger pressure. Boat & engines are 1988 & I have had basically no engine expense in the 23 years I have owned the boat. So since 1 turbo is definately in need of replacement & the other 1 is "suspect" I will replace both.

Right now I have a source that says they can get me 1 new & 1 reman. I will give the hanging turbo as a core & have the better 1 rebuilt at some future date.

Thanks again for all the advice. I will post a replay after the swap out has been done.

Andy,
If it does not take long to rebuild the "better turbo", why not just do that now? I agree with your thoughts the other turbo is not far behind. Just hate to see you have a problem mid season with the other turbo.

I agree. Rebuilds usually contain everything new except the shell.

Walter,

I will drop off my "better" turbo for rebuild when I pick up the new units next week.

Once again to all, thanks for the advice & I will let you all know how it goes after I am done.

Love those Cummins, first serious money (about $3,000) I have had to spend in 23 seasons & 4000 hours of running.
