No it's plastic with Burl wood finish. It was made to be the same thickness as the original panels. I was impressed with the gloss and the silk screening it really held up well. My old boat is for sale again due to the death of the owner, the boat is at my marina I drive past it every time I go to the marina so I looked at it recently and the panels still look great I wish I could say the same for the rest of the boat. It hurts to see and my hard work neglected.
I would love to redo the helm on my current boat however due to the design of the helm it would be a much bigger job the the last boat. maybe next year.
LOL this is an old thread I have since redone the helm on my current boat twice
This time I use Carbon fiber adhesive laminate I really like the way it came out but I found out the hard way I chose the wrong product I should made sure it was UV rated. The product is easy to work with it is very thin and cuts with a sharp knife. If this is something you would consider the company I ordered it from has lots of material to work with again make sure it is outdoor UV rated. https://dragonplate.com/
