Sad sight this morning as a neighbor found a dead loggerhead floating around the pier. He called FWC who sent an officer to retrieve it. Had to lift it with Charmer's crane as it was at least 200lbs. Nasty prop scar on the back

Guy said it was an old one which usually stay in the ocean. Must have drifted in with the wind

Oh-oh... looks like poor ET won't be calling home anytime soon.

Stew for everybody!

Short tail = female

Up here in the NE we are more likely to happen across live or dead/floating bigger leatherbacks. Often live but just under the surface for quite a while. These large turtles are a pretty spectacular sight.
That looks to be quite a large loggerhead.

Carnival will say the Loggerhead attacked when they wouldn't pay up. It never gave a warning either.

Irregardless, it is a very sad event. These reptiles are few and far between. I've seen them in Jupiter swimming against the tidal current and wonder how they have the energy.

The day you will have to pull one out yourself you will think differently.

Looks like a classic case of stewicide, poor guy was probably so depressed he hung himself.
