The closest marina I'd use would be Indian River Inlet's State Marina. I've stayed there a few times. Warning, the inlet can get rough on the outoing tide, lots of pontoon boats fishing in the channel. The state marina is on the north shore. No entertainment (other than watching the pontoon boats in the inlet) without a car. I believe they only have biodiesel and gas (vs. regular diesel). There is a private marina on the South side but I don't know anything about it. You have to buffer a sand bar in the inlet to reach the South Marina. Best to ask for local knowledge. Bethany Beach is a few miles south of the inlet. If you can run in the ocean, it's a straight shot from Cape May. Careful as you cross shipping lanes this way.
If you do a post in the Delaware and Chesapeake bay forum, you'll probably get a lot more information. Good luck. http://www.destateparks.com/marina/index.asp
