I just completed a trip from Lindenhurst Long Island, Greenport, Martha's Vineyard and Montauk. Great trip. We started with 5 boats and only 3 made the Vineyard. Everyone got home safe inthe end.
My question- my depth finder works fine with less then 15' of water, but as soon as it get deep I get no readings. Most of my boating is in less then 10' of water. I didn't realize I had an issue till going on this trip. Any thoughts as to why?

Frequency of the depth finder? Does it have an auto range or is it set manually?

Check the settings incl range, freq, gain etc. also, does speed affect the readings? Some installations will loose the bottom once on plane because of xducer location

What model sounder and xducer?

"What model sounder and xducer?" THIS!

Boat and Pascal are likely on target. Since it fails at 15' I doubt it is a frequency issue unless you are dropping off into very deep water moving from the 15' depth.😊 more likely a configuration / setup problem. Knowing model will help to give you suggestions. A good start point might be going back to factory defaults and working up from there. Aquick guess might be you have a depth range configured.

I will check all those details this weekend. Thank you for the food for thought.
