I have a Four Winns 17 ft bowrider and installed a norcross depth sounder with an in hull transducer. The display is intermittent and I went soft aground three times this week while on vacation. (Yes I have current charts, gps, and have taken a boating course but the sandy bottom keeps shifting and only a depth sounder will help) I tried moving the transducer and re-gluing it but it is still unreliable. My choices are transom mount or thru-hull. I'm not thrilled about cutting a hole in the hull for the thru-hull but also don't like the transom mount hanging out there. Any advice?
