I was told about these gauges,think either here or on the SOC. I think I was told, that you remove the T-handle on the filter canister and the gauge screws in there. More info on that would be great, I have racor units , maybe also a site you can recommend to get such. Then once I do this, I will need for you to explain what the readings mean

Well the Racor gages (if you have Racor 500/900/1000's) are no so hard to install but I have always thought that the price was quite ridiculous and the "T" handle install was in the way so I always bought gages various other places at like $12-18 each.
Some folks really like the Racor gages so it is a personal choice.
On various installs I have used 2,3 or 5 vac gages to cover both mains and genset and prefilters if installed.

I have made it a practice to add vac, pyro and boost gages to each diesel boat I have owned as very cheap insurance against getting stuck and/or having unnecessary engine loss.
