So I knew that the fuel cost has been on the rise over the winter. I just called the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Marina and the are charing $3.80 a gallon for diesel and $3.40 a gallon for gas. Is this what other people are seeing?

While I agree that $3.80 sucks, in the current climate it's actually a pretty good price!

SW La., at the marina until they buy another load of each.
Gas: $3.40
Diesel: $3.05

Our last load of fuel the day before of thanksgiving was at $2.65; what an increase. And to think that it is only going to get worse. Today, my eyes are officially opened.

At Tidewater in Baltimore $3.69 gas and $3.99 for diesel. 10 cents discount for BoatUS members and 5 cents discoount for cash. This is supposed to be one of the cheaper places.

I think it is a great deal, just passed a gas station this morning, diesel on land was $4.49 per gallon.

I really need to get a quick education on why diesel; is more then gas. Going to google to and see what type of primer I can find.

I remember when diesel was cheaper than gas, and they said it was because gas cost more to refine.

I think Hillary might have said it while she was ducking sniper fire and running for a car in Bosnia

But seriously, isn't diesel less refined than gasoline, therefore cheaper to make? Is it the taxes that jack it up so high?

I think taxes are only a part of it Mike. Finding it hard to believe that the taxes would have gone up almost a $1 per gallon in such a short period of time.

I say put the sulfur back in already!

...and take the ethanol out of the gasoline!

Diesel and heating oil are very close in composition so in the winter diesel will have a higher price. It may come down in the summer when the demand for heating oil drops to near nothing.

I note the use of the word, "may"

Marine diesel is not taxed. In NJ anyway. That is why it has a different color from that of NJ street pricing. This adds more to the argument that marine pricing should be less than street, but again, it is actually "unrefined gasoline" why is it more than gasoline????????? A NJ marina near me has gas at $3.78/gal and diesel at $3.79/gal. There is no justice for the avid boater anymore.

I know many people who actually run heating oil instead of diesel.

Unfortunately higher than off road diesel right now in Cecil County, MD.

I heat mostly with wood but it has been a tough winter for lots of people that have old houses.
