Where is everyone buying diesel these days?

A guy at sailors haven told me he paid $1.71 for diesel from one of the truck guys. I would love to get that!

I didn't get the details.

I buy from Rising Tide. I got some last month, but paid more than that. Can't remember off the top of my head exactly how much, but remember that it was about the same as the local gas stations.

Sounds like the guy may have purchased heating oil.

I got a delivery from Rising Tide a couple weeks ago for $2.57 a gallon.

Sounds about right.
Same stuff, but I don't know of any heating oil companies that will pump it directly in to the boat from the truck.
Maybe the guy has a tank at home that he gets it pumped in to and then he pumps it in to the boat himself.

That's about what I paid. His diesel supposedly has the necessary additives in it already too.
But being new to diesel and afraid to have a problem, I added my own anyway.

I wish I could use them. Not allowed in AYC. One of the benefits of having your own dock.
I think AYC is charging $3.30 so that is a .73 savings. At 200 gallons that is $146 savings!
That's a new set of filters!

Anyone want a lobster dinner?

CurrentSea I use Rising Tide and I live in Freeport. Not where you are or what the length of your boat is but your welcome to tie up at my house and arrange a delivery through Rising Tide.
Kevin

Thanks Kevin. But I will burn 50 gallons roundtrip to you, so it will deplete the savings. LOL
But at least I would get a free boat ride!

I had offered the use of my dock to a friend for this purpose a couple of years ago. The only problem is that he doesn't do it by exact appointment so it makes it kind of hard to coordinate. I call for the fuel on Monday, and he gets to me some time during that week. He will usually call me the night before he is going to come, but I've never gotten an exact time from him. Works for me because I don't have to be at the boat for the delivery. He just leaves the receipt for me.

Yep, same experience here. I call him Monday or Tuesday and say I need fuel by the weekend and he comes when it works out on his route depending on where else he's delivering to. Last time he told me he'd be there Thursday but didn't make it until 6pm Friday. Works fine when the boat is at your house and the convenience of not having to be around is part of the benefit of using the service, but does not work well to try to coordinate someone to stop by for a delivery.

I called Gene last Monday, and he got to me by Wednesday. Happened to run in to him when he was doing the delivery. Great guy, great service at a fair price.
