Where and how do you display the number on your documented vessel? The instructions say it must be on “some clearly visible interior structural part of the hull" and “must be permanently affixed so that alteration, removal or replacement would be obvious and cause some scarring or damage to the surrounding hull area."
Is the engine room acceptable?
Since the usual boat decals can be easily removed how have you accomplished “permanently affixed"? I bet in the old days, and this law goes way back, carving them into the wooden hull was the way it was done. Would decals with a coat of clear varnish or acrylic work?
