I am looking at installing a Mermaid Condensator. When I look at the information on it indicates that it uses a Venturi effect to suck the condensate from your drain. This is the same concept they use to add ozone to pool, Chemicals into piping and fertilizer into your sprinkler system. Mermaid's kit definitely has every thing you need but the $150 to $199 price for some tubing and a venture fitting seemed a little steep. I looked up pricing to compare if purchasing the items on your own would make a big difference

A ВЅ Mazzei injector tube Model 287 is $31. Instead of injecting chemical into your discharge you will be pumping Condensate

Вј inline check valve $10

SS clamps $15
Inline Strainer $20

Total about $75

I guess my question is has anyone made one of these? Does any one think that this would not work the same as the Mermaid condensator? Would there be a better way?

I agree that the Mermaid on is way overpriced. I think they have built some liability money into the price in case of a problem with a boat sinking. I think the Mermaid one is metal, not plastic.

My first question would be why are you doing this? Dometic recommends this product only if you have no access to an overboard discharge sump.

That said, yes it will work, and yes the price on the product is absurd. There can't be more than 10 dollars worth of parts.

If you decide to go DIY, remember to put a filter in the path from the drain pan to the suction of the venturi.

Fresh water in a bilge can cause rot to an exposed stringer.

You are driving a 33 Trojan. You should have a shower sump under the main cabin floor. Route the drain hose from the pan to the sump. The condensate is not under pressure. All that has to exist is the sump be lower than the pan. I had a similar problem in my Regal. Let me know if I can help. Pix would help.
