Dock Rental Rates

$750.00/month for a 45 foot slip in Sausalito, CA. That is $9,000/year or $200/foot.
 
If you add in the winter land storage in the NY area the total cost is about the same....

John, are you in Malletts Bay? $90/foot in Charlotte, but with an additional $500 for 2 30 amp lines it comes out about the same as you for my 46 footer.
 
Pilot error, yes we are In the Bay. I like the idea of a flat rate. You are correct, when you put all the fees together, they all sugar off to be about the same amount. Just wish it was a smaller amount:)
 
Our marina charges for dock length. Our 35' dock is $2200 and it includes Platinum season passes to the attached amusement park and water park as well as every other Cedar Fair Amusement Park on the continent. Not too shabby, I'd say!
 
Ramsport You seem to have the best of both worlds .
PS We are still enjoying the Carver Mariner, going into our 5th season which is the longest we have ever kept a boat.
 
Marina's have it tough in areas like NY where the boating season is only 6 or 7 months at best. This means they have to make an income to support 6 months of no income. Same is true for the poor guys that are mechanics, fiberglass, etc. In our neck of the woods, there has been a pattern of marinas selling the land to developers for condos. In other words, it is a rough business!
 
Here in CT Brewers seems to be buying the Marinas who's owners are looking to sell.
 
Hey, you guys on Lake Champlain-Down in the "Low rent district" of the lake we pay $44.00 per foot at Buoy 39 Marina in Orwell. Electric is $175.00 for the season. A little trip to get up to the bigger part of the lake, but it's the shortest drive from home.

? $112 summer plus $32 winter is only $144 a long way from $200 that's crazy money!
 
Dummy, I can't believe those rates. I just checked out the website for Bouy 39. I am considering Winter storage there next year. Do you store there? Can they lift and store a 36' boat? Thanks

No, buoy 39 marina cannot lift and store your boat. It is an old facility with old equipment.
New york marinas may be the only cheaper option, but a long drive away for working on spring projects and such. If you want to save money, you could do your own shrink wrapping like I have done the last two fall seasons. It is really fun and easy. (Not!!!)
 
James, thanks for clarifying. Started to get excited about half price storage...to good to be true. I agree about the location and convenience. I know you understand about trying to cut the expenses.
