Well, I got my renewal reminder letter yesterday from the actual CG and guess what, I haven't seen anything from any of the scammer services.В  Just maybe the CG's new policy on not providing owner information on their website anymore is starting to pay off.В  The cash cow is finally drying up.В

Wish they had done this several years ago.В  I'm guessing they got so many complaints, they had to come up with some way to stop the scammers.

I got a letter from the scammers this year just before it was time to renew.

This is my first renewal for this boat. If I had had the boat for a couple of years, they would have my info

I got the usual scam letter a month before the real thing came, as usual. The scammer has changed his company name a bit, so I think we all caused him some grief. Interesting that this year, The USCG gives you the option of renewal via internet and credit card.

Yep, the past 2-3 years there has been a lot of chatter on all the major boating forums. I’m sure It has cut into their business big time as boaters became better educated. And i’m Sure all the complaints the CG got is what made them change how they do their website

I renewed mine through the USCG website and the paper came in a matter of days.

I renewed on line with credit card also. My certificate arrived in less than a week. A bit of a pain to set up a government pay account.

Ditto,
i did my renewal on-line last week got the new Doc yesterday

One week for me too. Obviously renewal is going well, hopefully they are starting to catch up on new issues as well.
