Does anyone here own a Gulfstar trawler?

News flash we may have the sea trial this week I'll know by tomorrow.

I don't see the value in FB for the sort of threads we run here.

I suggested to Les that he start a trawler section. IMO the reality is that trawlers have all the same systems and problems as planing boats but the trawler folks seem to think they are somehow different so why not accommodate them?.

I don't think I'm different Bruce. I think perhaps live a boards have an entirely different perspective?
Bill

No not different, just a bit slower:)

Dave, not much slower, the last 2 years where we mostly stayed tied up at the marina.
I might actually be going faster now!

The latest update.
An independent diesel mechanic will be firing up the engines and the generator Monday.
Sea trial is either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning.
I'll have it nailed down with all parties by tomorrow assuming the engines wake up properly.

Here is a picture from my last visit.

Looks nice Bill.
What is the draft?
Is this gonna make it past the tuckerton sticks?

It's the same draft as "W1" 3.5 feet/
The sticks were replaced with actual markers after Sandy. I miss the sticks with rags and bicycle reflectors Dave.

The boat is coming with all new Canvas, the Canvas on the boat is in good shape but faded. I'm also getting a Dingy swing arm and winch.
This coming Monday couldn't happen soon enough for me. A Perkins certified diesel mechanic is coming and boat will be put in the water for start up and testing. As long as no major problems are detected we are closing 2 Saturdays from now.

Sounds good. I was trying to picture it with a painted blue hull, red bootstripe and dark blue canvas.
Might look real sharp.

Agreed. I think that'd look real sharp.

At this point there is enough Gelcoat to clean up the hull. I am going to repaint the boot and accent stripes on the boat. Even if I were to paint her with Awlgrip I would stick with a white hull and topsides.

I'm heading down to Maryland in a few hours. I'm meeting with all parties involved with getting the boat ready for sea trial. We are supposed to close on the 7th. That's only 2 days away and at this point it will take a miracle to get everything done by then. Without a survey I can't close or get insurance.

Good luck with it all. Hope the seatrial goes well.

Captain Bill, thanks I am really not expecting anything major but I need the survey and sea trial. I'll report back and let you know what I get accomplished today.

Thanks David, I need to get out of here soon.....

I was very surprised that Progressive did not insist on a survey for my 41 year old Pacemaker; which was a good thing because when I bought the boat I would have been afraid to see what the survey said. Four years later it's probably an isurable boat, but at the time it would not have been pretty.

Hope things go well today.

Andy I am at the boat now with the diesel mechanic. We might get splashed this afternoon. Right now we are waiting on filters for the Westerbeke generator.
