I sold my Mariner 3297. Now, I'm looking at a Santego 38. Once again the sliding rear door doesn't slide. It was a pain on the old boat and I'm wondering whether anyone has any idea as to how to go about fixing it. I couldn't get the Mariner's door off to do anything with it.

On my 93 Mariner, there is a black plastic trim piece on the top track of the doorway. This is the track that the door is in. If you remove the five or six screw, you should be able to pull the trim out and that will give you enough room to lift and tilt the door panels out. Once you get it off, you may be able to see just what is wrong with the door.

I hope that helps.

I've never had any problems with mine. Did you know there is a lock that will hold the door open? It is on the bottom and slides down into the lower track, could this be stuck? I'll try to take a better look at mine next time I'm down there.

As Frank noted, there is a black plastic filler piece in the upper track of the door...removing it will give you enough clearance to lift the door out of the track

We haven't come to terms on the boat. A sticky door is a major sticking point (pun intended) for my wife. I appreciate your help in assessing the level of effort to get through this hurdle. I'll pass it on to the Admiral and see where things go. Thanks. This forum is a great resource.
