It took me a while using a two-finger seal puller on a slide hammer. There isn't much LIP area on the forward end of the seal for the tool to grab the seal.
Do you have the gimbal bearing/seal installation tool for the alignment tool? Without it you're in for total failure.
If you're in the Midwest I have the installation tool but not the seal puller.
It may be money WELL spent to have the local VP repair facility remove the seal and install the new seal and gimbal bearing including an alignment .
Thanks for the reply--I was able to remove the seal only by prying inner lip up with modified screw driver and alot of hammering on a slide hammer puller. I have the gimbal bearing alignment tool and bearing installer but nothing for installing the seal. I tried installing a new seal today and ended up ruining it as it installs backwards from normal installation of flat side out. I am thinking about installing the seal with flat side out as I believe it will still function for the purpose of blocking water into boat from the gimbal bearing side. I haven't been able to find a dealer that has actually removed and replaced this seal--it is usually left in place unless damaged which was my case. I am located in North Idaho but appericate the offer .
