Not in this economy, it won't

Someone with deep enough pockets should jump on the oppurtunity. They can probably get someone to dredge it for a reduced cost and the payback will come down the road.

I agree this is the time to find a great deal on dredging and with deeper water more people would be happy and more boat would come, bigger boats a chance to make more money.
If you build it they will come.

I remember some of this discussion from some time ago. I think one of the biggest expences was the disposal site which alot depends on what is found in the sampling. I think in Washies case they were able to dispose on site which kept the cost down.

True Butch, we did not have to truck. We worked with the village to dump at an un-finished village owned property about 1/4 mile north. The contractors built the berm, the dredger pumped the water/silt. The village let it sit for one or two years to dry out and in the end they had nice top soil to build a beautiful park north of the club called Croton Landing. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.

If you had to move via truck or barge, that would add quite a bit to the cost. I wouldn't worry about the soil samples from the bed of the river, I'm guessing your silt is just as good as ours. We think much of our silt came from the construction of a golf course up hill from us, near a brook feeding the basin. Some also came from the river itself.

I want to say the name of the firm was "Aqua Dredge" but regardless of the name, I was surprised so I remember they hailed from Armonk, NY. I'm guessing our basin is about 35,000sq feet.
