I had my boat out last Sunday (1996 Formula 280 SS w/ twin 5.7 Mercs and B-3 drives) for about a 3 hr run. Pre-trip inspect was fine. Post trip inspect revealed a significant loss of drive oil from the port side reservoir. The boat ran great. No signs or sounds of anything abnormal.
Removed boat from water and checked drive oil. All clear and no signs of water intrusion. Ran on muffs for approx. 20 min. and can see no signs of oil escaping from anywhere, either inside or outside the boat. The only sign I saw what-so-ever, was when I trimmed up to pull from water. Little oil bubbles came from what appeared to be the center of the prop for about 20 or 30 seconds. However, nothing drastic by any means.
I was going to refill reservoir and run again but did not trust doing so.
Any thoughts or advice? Thank you for your help!
