After everytime I leave the boat at my marina, it lives on a trailer, 05 2400sc3 I turn the battery selector to off and verify nothing is on. When I purchased the boat the number 2 battery was low and not holding a charge so I had the dealer exchange it. It appears the battery they exchanged it with is a different number (given a 24vc and the number 1 is a 24mhc best corporation) than the one that was in it.

This weekend I go to turn on the batts and nothing no power at 1 or 2. I bought a battery at the marina, started the boat and then started charging the batteries while under way. Number one charged up completely, number 2 took a small charge and then slowly lost power and caused the guage to drop, then it wouldn't do anything. I put the new marina battery back on number 2 and the voltage and power is fine again. I again turned the switch to off when I left and brought the bad number 2 home.

Could this battery have shorted out and killed number one during the
week?

If yes to one how could it kill the other battery on the other side of the switch???

Should I look for something else? The alternator gives a solid voltage and I have not checked amperage.
Should I replace the what appear to be generic dealer batteries with something better?

Until this weekend the replaced number 2 gave no indication of problems.
