Dumb Question

I recently purchased a hand-held tach to test the accuracy of my tachs. The tach uses reflective tape to determine RPMs.

Now here is the dumb question: Where do I place the reflective tape? Belt, drive shaft,??

I have 1990 Crusader 454's.
