I'm looking at the '79 Egg and being on the left coast where there are so few Eggs I have some concerns. Mostly it is the deck construction of mahogany and plywood fiberglassed over. It seems there could be higher maintenance due to rot problems etc. I know, get a survey, but is the on going maintenance of this construction a continual problem? What specific areas should I have a surveyor look at? I probably cannot find a surveyor with experience on Eggs. It's sure a nice looking boat. Advice needed please.
