I'm posting this for anyone who may be chasing a Gremlin. I've been battling a shifting problem in my boat for some time. Works fine with my twin screw V-drives (gas) every time I start. However, after a run at higher RPM's (2,000), when I shifted one of the engines into reverse (doesn't happen in forward), the engine dies. I've adjusted the cables, had a mechanic look at it, but no avail, as it only occured occasionally. Well, even though I've never had battery charging problems, nor battery life problems, I decided for the heck of it (after two years of this), to put a multi-meter on my battery and watch it during shifting. Well, lo and behold, the voltage dropped to 11 volts on every shift into reverse, but not forward. Geez, so off I went, again for the heck of it, tightening every wire I could find, and I found two that were somewhat loose. One to the battery isolator (I have three batteries), and one to the Ignition panel power supply. After that, the multimeter stayed steady during shifting, and all is sweet.
