New life new future wife,,,SAME GREAT OLD BOAT!!!
We started going back up to the boat a few months ago and got a lot done, Quick update, Moved the boat last year, all went perfectly, ended up in an ugly divorce so I let the boat sit. I didn't want to improve a boat I might loose like I did my truck. All is well now with my new fiance. As I said we started going back up a few months ago and getting a lot done, we got the hard top cut up and gone all the cabin sides are in the garage waiting to be templated and put back on and are now getting ready to start cutting the fore deck off, we are replacing all the decks from stem to stern and ribs as we take the decks off because with the deck off I can replace the ribs in their entirety with relative ease. Oh and another little task will be adding 6 feet to her. Photos to follow!![:-bonc01]

Now who will we use as an example of why not to buy a wooden boat? :D

LOL, You can still use me as an example, It motivates me,,,I look forward to it too, I love it, its a hell of a ride...
 
The hole in your boat reminds me of my first divorce. Only it left a big hole in my pocket!
Luckily I didn't have a boat when I got divorced!

Divorce is ugly.

LOL,, that hole and the need for the new transom actually gave me the idea for the 6 foot extension. Whoever did the transom last screwed it up, where the hull planks meet the transom they scarfed in new hull planks but only put in 6 to 12 inch pieces which is completely wrong, you need to scarf in 6 foot at least, so whats the difference if I put in a new 6 foot piece or a 12 foot piece, I already have the hull planks in my stock and I'm going to have it torn apart anyway. Oh and I wanted a bigger boat,,,lol. It will make my aft cabin, aft deck pilot house and fly bridge 6 foot bigger, I will be able to move my tanks to the center of my aft cabin and make it a center full or queen like I wanted to do before but didn't have the room and I can then put new dressers and tall closets along the port and stbd sides instead of the double twins I have now with the center vanity and closet. Its just better all the way around. I should have her back in the water by July 4th next summer. with A stem to stern keel up refit. now that she is in a marina that gives a crap, has the equipment to move her around and most of all knows her, she was there for 30 years they know every nut bolt and screw in her, so now I can finally fix what I need to fix and not constantly stop to fix what the marina breaks.

Jimmy you have one heck of a project ahead of you. I have admired your intensity when it comes to basically building a new wood Pacemaker from the components of your original boat.
Keep the pictures coming, I do understand the passion when it comes to a unique boat project.

Yes Jimmy at least you chose materials that float. Bill uses copper and silicon. :D
 
Just curious, what is going to be left of the original boat you bought when you're done?
 
Just Me brother,,,LOL,,, No Im Just basically replacing the ribs and decking, re configuring my aft cabin, and adding some length. I will be reusing everything I can to try to keep her looking the same and keeping her as original as I can.

Great to hear that you are back and fired up. We armchair boat restorers missed the action.
 
And this Arm Chair ain't gittin any closer to Jimmy's way of life. I done been there....
 
Sorry for the delay with the pictures guys, been busy as heck. Now I'm packing for another trip to the boat and thought Id take a minute to make up a new album on photo bucket and throw up a link for you to enjoy before I got too far behind to keep up with. Ill add them here throughout the project. Their not all in order but the point is there, I personally like the full screen slide show mode myself, I tried it out to make sure it worked.

Jimmy, I take my hat off to you and your preserverance. I don't think I know anyone who would have stuck to this project like you have.

By the way, I'm the guy that first told you about bottom refastening 3 years ago.
 
Mine took longer than two years. Jimmy you 'da man' buddy.
I hope you have it to enjoy for years to come.
