I have an 89 Tiara 3600 Covertible with twin Crusader 350 hp 454 inboards and got a call last week from the Marina that my alarm was going off.
When I got there the port engine alarm was sounding and the warning lights were flashing with no key in the ignition. Inserted the key switched on, engines started fine, switched off, and everything normal. Figured that some moisture had created a problem (helm is enclosed), so I gave the switch a shot of WD-40.
5 days later, another phone call, and the same problem. Well, it's got to be a bad ignition switch. Turned off the main battery switch and disonnected all the wires on the ignition switch. When I turned on the main battery switch the alarm was sounding and the warning lights were still flashing.
What is the best method for tracking down this gremlin? Any feel as to whether it's a grounding problem?
