Engine intake strainer

I was reinstalling my engine intake strainers. I guess the old screws were 1/16" or 1/8" shorter. After i screwed them in, I realized
that my screws went thru the bootom of the hull. The hull in that area is about a 1/2" thick? I removed the screws that poked thru,
squeezed some 5200 and reinstalled the screws. Should have I done something different?

On the assumption that the hull is non-cored fiberglass ( vs wood ) I, being somewhat OCD would have done a full repair: drill out the old hole, filled the hole with epoxy ( maybe even with some very small fiberglass cut/chopped/crushed ) as an added filler, then after curing pre-drilled and then re-installed the strainer.

Many will feel that this is overkill.

It is quite likely that 5200 is sufficient.

Epoxy would have been better with a dab on the inside but 5200 should be ok. If you hull is only 1/2” thick i sounds it’s cores and the area around the TH should be solid glass anyway. Unless …. /)
