A friend has a SeaRay 260 circa 1985. His backlit display doesn't work and he's traced the problem to the above part. The part is a 12v to 130v inverter to power some sort of light strip used for back lighting.

I've tried e-mailing and calling the manufacturer of this part, Endicott Research Group but have not heard back yet.

Have any of you SeaRay owners had a problem with this part? If so, can you reccommend a replacement? Any advice in general would be appreciated. He already tried a boat junk yard...no luck.

I'm not sure if this is the same boat or lighting strip or not. Somebody bought some LED strip lighting from Best Buy and installed it. The LED strip was less than $10 and he was able to attach it behind the dash so you could see the labels. I don't know what color, part #'s or anything. I don't know if there was a transformer to change the voltage from 12 volts to whatever the lights need or not. How's that for a post? Pretty bad!

Actually, that was a good post. I did locate this part from Endicott Research Group, Endicott, NY. They're asking $105 plus tax and shipping. I saw my friend yesterday and he opted to order LED strips from a local boat shop and installed them...total cost $36, saved $100, less electricity, should last longer.

LED is the way to go!
