During storage I had to deal with bad exhaust/risers which were done gratis by the selling dealer, then I found out my gear set was damaged. That's where I have a problem - more of a moral issue, really!
My mech. took the gearset to a gear expert (Xpert) who tore apart the set and found broken teeth all over the place! Xpert wrote me a repair estimate which included all parts required. The shop where I got the ride from (Full-Tilt Marine) offered to save me some dough and get me the parts at cost. Xpert agreed to install OEM parts from Full-Tilt with some markup. I agreed - the guy has to make some profit - because he did spend some time diagnosing the problem. Parts came in, Xpert changed his mind citing possible cross warranty issues. I understood, pay Xpert for all work and ask Full-Tilt to do the gear rebuild using Xpert's repair estimate/parts. Full-Tilt finds out parts from Xpert were wrong and Full-Tilt orders new parts. So I go to Xpert and tell him he did wrong and that somehow he owes me some since my ride now has to come out of storage at least a couple of weeks later (costing me storage fees) due to his mistake. Xpert, uses bad language and kicks me out of his shop and says he never wants to see either me or my mechanic anywhere near his shop. I think Xpert is wrong. What do you think? I was only suggesting that he owed me some of the money I gave him for taking parts apart and writing the estimate, etc, a whole $200+. My intention is not to advertise Xpert to damage his business, but I'd like to give Xpert a good piece of my warped mind!!!! I already told him he's got some serious anger management issues he has to deal with! This dude looked like he was going to bullet me out of his shop, no kidding, for a refund that would have amounted to less than $200! I never accused him of anything. All I said was that I thought he owed me some money! And why bring in my mech into the discussion and insult him for that? How do I deal with this guy. I really would like to go back to him and ask that he be more polite, but is he worth it? For all I know, he could have been having a bad day!!!
