I currently have an 18 gal. vacuflush tank system. This obviously causes me great pain since I have to pump out almost every weekend and quite frankly, I am sick and tired of it. Dont even get me started on why in the world they would do this in a 2005 31ft. cruiser but thats another conversation. Anyways, my question is, would it be possible to add an additional tank and tie into my existing system or would I just need to remove the old tank and replace with a larger one. I did confirm that the 28 gal tank will fit in the same location but it looks like a nightmare to get to. One thought that came to mind is to maybe add another tank and install a couple Y valves so when one tank is full, I could switch the valve and send the waste to the other tank. Then, I would have another Y valve for pumping out. It looks doable after I scetched it on paper but I dont know if I would be wasting my time. Any thoughts are appreciated

Do yourself a favor put the largest tank you can fit in the boat. I went to a 45 gallon tank with my VacuFlush there are only 2 of us on the boat but we can go a few weekends before needing a pump out. The other trick is double up if it's just urine and that cuts your water use in half. It's become a joke between my wife and I! Regards Bill

18 gallons in a week end seems like a lot with VF, when flushing liquid only, you dont' have to hold the pedal more than a second.
is it worth it replacing the tank just to gain 10 extra gal ? how big a second tnak can you fit? it might be easier to add a tank and a pair of valves than trying to remove the existing one. you need to look at what's involved.

The 2nd tank would require it's own vent line, pump out Y valve and dump Y valve. If you want to monitor the level the Raritan multi-tank monitor will work as long as the tanks are not aluminum. 10 extra gallons would be 40 additional flushes on average.
What are your effluent discharge restrictions in the lake. Would a holding tank w/ approved overboard discharge be a better investment. More expensive in the short run, but not carrying around 30+ gallons of (literally) crap has its fuel consumption costs accompanied with the overall installation costs. Les has Raritan sewage treatment plants in Boatfix.

18 gal in a weekend? Our 31' Tiara had VacuFlush w/20gal holding tank. With 2 adults and 2 kids we could go 2 weekends. You should be flushing down no more than a pint or so of water each time. You filling the bowl with water first?
Its just me and the wife. If we arrive friday evening, we wont leave until sunday night. We usually will have to pump out first thing the following weekend. I have room for a 20 gal secondary tank. I agree about the effort involved just to gain the extra 10 gal and thus my dilemma

Just remove the reading material from the head. Cuts down on the head usage.
I was thinking of something out of this catalog from pages 10-14. Unless of course your lake is an absolute no discharge zone place.

if you are not in an NDZ, go for the the Hold n Treat, it's seems like it's the best of both world...
for liquids, VF really use very little water... for solids, you need to add a little water and hold the pedal a little longer but you should still get 4 days out of your system.
