Exumas from Harbour Island

T-28 days and counting for me...

Dan, we hope to see you somewhere along the way. Bosun is looking forward to it!

Staniel is metered now? That s new... Was a flat fee last winter. Nicer to anchor out and dinghy in anyway...

Yes!

In fact we also stopped in at the Home Depot on the Cay to pick up some odds and ends.

You may have to squint to see the sign. But this is the real deal. :D

That beach at Compass is one of the prettiest in the Bahamas. It's worth every penny of the "tender tax" to spend a day there IMHO.

Over at the Berry Island Club. Good depth coming in at falling tide close to low tide. Just follow the markers they have.
Good folks here, and if I did it again it would be on one of the mooring balls. If it wasn't for the need to move on I'd love to dink around over here.
Bill, not sure who you delt with but I think there is a new team in town run my a younger man named Herbie.

We stayed at one of the cottages at Staniel a few years ago and took the 13' Whaler over to Compass one day. No one told us about the landing charge ahead of time and didn't think about bringing my wallet so we get there with no cash on us and then find out about the fee... The owner decides to let us tie up anyway and we ended up hanging out at the docks, seeing the sharks, etc. Real nice place and the owner (Tucker I think?) was a great guy and we ended up talking to him for quite a while. Turned out his daughter worked at Staniel so we gave her an envelope when we got back with the landing fee (and extra since we really appreciated that he let us stop there without it) to give to her dad. Unfortunately the weather started changing so we didn't get to fully explore Compass but next time we're there hopefully we'll get to spend more time.

Compass was a favorite for us as well. And now we are at the Bimini Big Game.

I stand corrected.

Bimini Blue Water was good to us last year. This year, they dropped our reservation, and we drive by and I think we can fit into a number of slips but they say they are full? I think they have a dimwhit in the office. So they lose out on a potential week stay, and we wind up moving to Florida earlier that we wanted to because it is 2.5X more expensive here at the Big Game Club. But so far the place is a gem in an otherwise less than appealing place.
Fortunately we saw change taking place as we came into Alice Town. It looks like others are catching on and starting to rebuild or repair and make the place a special stop again. Here Here!

Well they tore down the 3 story wreck near the ramp.... That s a start!

Big game is nice but since indont care about the pool and stuff, i find sea crest to be good enough and half the price...

What are your plans? How long how you going to be in so fl?

PS dont rush back north it a 57 deg here in Atlantic highlands!!

We originally intended to hang our here a week and wait for some folks to come over. That won't happen now since we went to BGC and got soaked. Had a burger, fries, conch sald, conch fritters and two rounds.
105.00!

The fritter sucked, the conch salad was poor, but the burger was good. They double charged my drink when they poured it incorrectly. But the view from the deck is good.

We say, skip the food, have a drink at the end of the day, and eat in.

Pascal, we will most likely cross and head around to the West coast so we won't be down South too long. I have an appointment with my daughter early June and then jury duty. When BBW dumped our reservation our plans changed and the budget was blown.

Well never to late to cut expenses and move to sea crest so you can enjoy Bimini a few days...

I also have a BIG problem with getting ripped off and there are very places where i enjoy eating ashore... Staniel is one of them... Elsewhere I can do much better myself... Come and think of it, i also prefer dropping the hook than paying $2 or $3 a ft Better views and more privacy! I font care to smell the next guys good and hear his loud music :)

So far since leaving Miami 17 days ago, the score is: On the hook 14, docked 3

Let me know if you need local knowledge on So Fl If I had been there ind have given you a ride to immigration Where are you planning on staying?

We did not bother to stop and ask. We had enough to get back to Miami and have done so. Probably saved a couple of hundred dollars filling up at Crandon Park. I know there is probably cheaper but without wifi etc. we could not get a straight answer so filled up there. Nice stop Crandon Park is!
