The end of the year separates the "wheat from the chaff". There are only three of us here at the marina so far, I guess everyone else has given up boating for the year...

We are going to enjoy these last couple of weekends on the boat, the winter is long enough without starting it early.

I plan to be on board tomorrow as well! Only mine is on land and I need to winterize the motors I have been real busy with work and haven't had time to take care of this.

I'm guessing that the lobsta' men of the Maine coast might refer to the "remaining three" as fair weather boaters.

It all depends where you view others from.

I'm sitting here in Port Clinton, Oh. (Lake Erie) 45 degrees outside wind +15 kts going to 35 kts tomorrow. Heat pump in the boat is working well though. This is the last weekend.

Finishing winterizing the boat tomorrow and once the boat is out week of November 4th I am starting winter boat projects.

Well I am going to be on the boat his weekend and in the water. Hope to finish my anchor locker and windlass this weekend. I was hoping to have a few more weekends before winterizing but the temps are dropping fast.

Allen. What projects are you doing once you are out of water?

Where is the raftup Hogan. Been on the boat for the last 10 days. Need to get out of the slip!

Have to fix my port rudder, I think the bearing inside are bad, my stirring is very hard. Also taking off my swim platform for new paint and non skid paint. Also want to lift the arch and give it a little tilt backwards.

Nope, I'm done. Call me a fair weather boater, but it's been an exhausting season. I'm out, winterized and wrapped. All ready for the winter.

Some of us seniors don't really like hanging around at the marina when it's in the thirties in the morning. It's more comfortable at home. The boat came home last week. Now I am prepping it for trailering it to Florida for the winter. Oil and filter change, outdrive service and tune up. This weekend it gets fresh bottom paint. And most important all the fishing gear stowed in the cabin. It's been a good season here but it's over until next year.

Pocket Change has the right idea. If the weather is not fair where you are, why not go to where the weather is fair?

Plan to do that next year myself. But I am leaving it there. I will only be a few years from retirement by then. Guess where all our vacations will be.

Offloaded most of the stuff from the boat for winter. I left on essentials should we get a day when it isn't blowing 20+ to fish or go for a ride. Boat will come out first week of December as usual.

What's the weather outside got to do with being on a warm comfy boat? It needs to get quite a bit colder before I throw in the towel. This weekend I'm stuck at work but I'm sure I'll get to the boat sometime before next weekend. I'm usually the last boat out the water temps need to get below 40 degrees before my reverse air units require supplimental heaters.

We thought about leaving this boat in Florida but then I would have to buy another one to use in the summer here. I don't want to maintain two boats. We have made 13 round trips without incident and I'm not the only one doing it. About 1/3 of trailerable size boats have northern states registration on them. We join the parade of boats and RV's heading south on I-95. every fall.

We are on our boat, Bill. So long as we stay out of the wind, it's a nice day.

I have sailed in snow more than once. Gives great indication of wind flow over sails.:D

We pulled Freedom out at the RYB in December once. I used the dink to break up the ice in the pit before I pulled the boat in.

Now? We had a diver come and clean the bottom off so we can get underway soon.
