Fatality on Lake Sonoma

I absolutely, positively hate when that happens.

Don't know what actually happened. In either case falling off or being thrown off, he shouldn't have put himself in a position where that could happen. If one remembers the old adage of one hand for the boat and one hand for me, you can prevent most falls on a boat.

My condolences to the family of the deceased and the driver of the boat. I'm sure that this incident will change all of their lives permanently.

That's a real trick...the prop for a Mastercraft is recessed back under the transom.

But a prop in gear can suck a body into it. That may have happened here. Bottom line, save the alcohol for at the dock or on the hook before you retire for the night.

Oh I agree Liz, save the alcohol! I don't get choked up over stupidity.

I posted additional links to the above thread. In additon to the Lake Sonoma fatality, a boater went missing on Clear Lake and a rafter drowned on the American River last weekend.

Boating has its inherent dangers, but good safety practices can prevent most accidents on the water. Common sense is the best safety measure, but that's the last thing you can count on when alcohol is involved.

Msibley:Got to remember, the boat was backing down the accident happened. The report didn't say if the guy was inside the boat or on the swim step. I'll bet my lunch money he was on the swim step.

Now, there are no favorite drunk driving fatality stories, but here is one to remember..
The appointed state offical who killed those 4 people in a drunk driving accident in Sacto... Was issued a temp License while awaiting his hearing. After the word got out that he had been issued the cert, his laywer swears the guy won't drive until this matter is settled.

I'll say it again. I have no sympathy for stupidity..I really don't care how it happened.

Now that really p%sses me off! Cops should be held to a higher standard, not allowed to get away with murder!

Flutterby, don't get me wrong. The guy was appointed to his state office (on a medical governing board) by the current Governor. Before getting his post, he was renown has a political activist.

And I disagree with you on another point. Cops should not be held to a higher standard, they should be held to the exact same standard as everyone else.

I know who you are talking about. DMV requires immediate suspension of the license.....how the h3ll did he get around that! Politics, that's what.

As far as the higher standard, he wasn't a cop. So the law should apply to him exactly the same as anyone else. I was thinking of the cop who killed a kid while DUI and then ran off in his car. He deserves more then the average joe, IMHO!

Mikee....Where the hell ya been?????

As liz say, "Inquiring minds want to know":D[:P]

Oops! Just saw the figgin' dates...[:I]

And as sleepy ole Rip Van Charlie stirs he realizes there's a new president ad he's not in Kansas anymore. Welcome to 2010 Charlie ;-)
