1998 Evinrude Ficht 115 HP, purchased new in 2000 with updated software, non pinned heads. 300 hours without any of the Ficht problems. I have always used Ficht Ram oil and Evinrude/Johnson carbon guard in gasoline. Can no longer purchase Evinrude Ficht Ram oil. Is the new Evinrude/Johnson XD 50 the same oil under a new name? It sounds like it: synthetic blend with carb X. Could it be an improvement on the old Ficht Ram oil? I do not want to mess with the oil on this engine. The new Evinrude ETECHs ( Ficht by a new name) use the XD 100 and can be programmed to use 1/2 as much oil - my software will not allow that, but I am not sure I would want to do that anyway on this older version. I do not want to use the XD 100 unless I have to, it is priced like liquid gold and mny not be right for my engine. Any experts (George?) out there have some advice or experience?
