Depends on when... Weekends in the middle of summer are difficult for large boats. Small beam boats have an advantage. During the week.. no problem ...

They havea reservation system. Call the day of arrival and they assign u a slip.

If u have to anchor outside u might as well go somewhere else. ITs not protected and depending on the wind ... could be rough sleeping....
A dink would be cool to put around in though....

In the begining of ther season u will have no problem getting in...

What's the beam of your boat? The smaller it is the easier to get in.

The other issue with anchoring out is most of the surrounding water outside the channel is very shallow. Sailor's Haven a few miles west has more room for anchoring out.

Do u know if there making the slips bigger this year. I think they are forgoing the decking upgrade this year to make larger slips on A pier and B land ?? ( i dont know if i got the letters right )

Last I heard over the winter they are supposed to be turning the 'day slips' with no electric and water (which I think would be A land), into slips for larger boats. The pilings would be reset for larger beams and electric and water would be added. That was the plan as of the last time I heard (sometime in the fall), but I don't know for sure that it is definitely happening. I hope so, would be nice to have more chances of getting in.
 
You shouldn't have a problem getting a slip on a Friday then except maybe for holiday weekends, and can often get in on Saturday. Under 10' there are a lot of slips. It's the guys like Rob and I with 14'+ wide boats that have trouble.

I wanted to say thanks for the link. This is great info.
We have been going to Tequila Jack's for the last couple of years and really enjoy it (we always get a t-shirt for coming the farthest distance), but I was really interested in checking out WH.
 
WH is a great destination....

In summer gets alittle buggy though...

I booked for a campsite. I hope I get at least ONE of the several days I booked for...
 
That should not be a problem, for the reason above! The campground is particularly bad as it is protected from the wind, why not stay on the boat?
 
Actually despite the bugs as I understand it it's harder to get a campground spot than it is to get dockspace. They have a lottery at the beginning of the year for campsites, right? As Chris is pointing out though, the campsites are in the prime mosquito area of the park and you have to worry about ticks also. Personally I'd sleep on the boat and save the camping for upstate, New England, etc.
 
YES........becareful with the tics. The first year we took our dog over to WH....he ended up with a half dozen ticks on his legs. Luckily we found them fast.
