I have a new Silverton with Crusader 8.1s and ZF transmisions. I am nearing the 25 hour oil change and don't know if these motors take the same Chevy oil filter as all of my Mercruiser v8s did. Also, with ZF trans. is it important to change the oil and filter at 25 hours or will it be just fine to do it at 40 hours for winter layup?
I have been through the books but it speaks very little about the trans. other than changing the fluid/oil. Virtually no instructions are there to proceed with the maintenance. Are the trans. filters widely available?
