Greetings!

I'm considering purchasing a 2001 Sea Ray 230 Signature Bow Rider as my first boat and would like some opinions on this craft and the price.

The one I have my eye on is in great condition, 140 hours, kept on a trailer, fresh water use only no bottom paint. 7.4L Mercruiser with Bravo 3 drive.

I will be using the boat in the Long Island Sound and South shore as a ski/day boat.

Owner is asking 27K, in line with Nada value.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

I don't know much about the boat, but that's alot of engine for a 23' bowrider, it must fly! If he's asking 27k offer him 18k contingent upon a survey and engine check out. It's definitely in your favor this time of year in this market. I went through this last year and it worked out in my favor.

As suggested, it's a buyers market and NADA is BEHIND the curve. Prices are trending downward seasonally AND in general due to fuel prices. A friend just bought a 2000 260 Sundancer for 30,000. That didn't include a trailer, but it makes your boat look a little over priced. I'd definitely push for a lower price. Go 10K below as suggested and see if he counters. If he does, he's showing a weakness and he'll definitely negotiate further. Has it been winterized, can you test drive it? Make the purchase pending survey and agree that he should fix anything found in the survey.
