I must not be the only one... some people must be doing this before they put their boat away also.
I live in SFL so no putting away for me but since I bought this "new to me" boat it has never been waxed right I bet. It's slightly chalky in some parts but very slight.
I read and read and after getting a quote of 12 a foot from a pro ... which would be about 312 for me plus a nice tip for his hard work I decided I could buy all the stuff and do it for around $170. The biggest expense being the Porter and Cable 7424 or the Lowes one called the 7336 which was $120. Then I would have the polisher for life and just need materials after.
Ok heres my process... I would like to see if you all agree?
Using my new Orbital Polisher:
1) Use Meguiars #44 Color Restorer with a Wool Pad to eliminate the oxidation. Buff until all is gone.
2) Use 3-M Finnesse It II to get the oils and shine going. Apply with a Wool Pad as well.
3) Apply a wax (don't know which one yet) I have some startbrite teflon left over but I might get the meguiars wax and try that. Apply with a foam pad.
Questions I still have:
1) What speed to run the polisher at... any proper speed that you guys/girls recomend?
2) Any tips around stripes or hardware?
3) Any other tips other then wash and use a hull cleaner to get it as clean as possible before starting?
Thanks for the help ahead of time!!
Pete
