folks i need your help in getting a spot for kids and handicaped peopleto fish in kingston ny
the loacl law prohibits fishing in the east strand park
this is the only public area from the mouth of the rondout to eddyville 15 miles west that can be access by those in wheel chairs
i am asking every one to write an e-mail to
ward8rb2rb2@gr5tgr5tci.kingston.ny.us as well as
ward3rb2rb2@gr5tgr5tci.kingston.ny.us
asking for a fishing dock at east end of the park the west end does not have access to open water
please help the kids and handicaped people in this area by sending an e-mail
question or comments can be sent to me fmergrb2@gr5taol.com
thank you

Allowing fishing in that area would be a hazard to navigation IMHO. The west end is a much better spot. Less traffic. Fish swim, and I see no reason to add to the insanity that already exists in the east end of that area. In addition, the large number of people that stroll along that area should not have to worry about being snagged with fish hooks as people cast their lines.

Not sure why you are trying to pull the "for the kids and handicapped" card. Sounds like a pure sympathy play to me. I may be labeled as harsh or uncaring but that's the way I see it.

being you know the area you should also no that the east end is only 8 ft deep at low tide and its only 20 ft wide
boats come and go all day long up the slip and that does chase the fish out
as for your safty concern a fishing dock would remove the kids from the pathway
placeing the dock at the east end puts it near the rip van winkle and out of the boating lanes
this idea is supported by the owner of the rip
she wants the area made safe for the kids
also the city plans on extending the docks to connect the other marina
as for why i am talking about the kids and handicap people thats all that fish this area
most others can make the 15 mile trip upstream to were the fishing is better
