How come when I look at the FORUMs list and look at one particular forum and over to the right and it will show for example 18 topics. When I select that forum, there are NOOOOOO topics in there. What am I doing wrong?

You clicking active topics? Active only shows if posts since your last login.

Only one with 18 topics is western lakes. Fits with his location. But not active since 2009. I see topics but not if I click active.

I didn't hit ALL TOPICS.
