I have a 2000 Mercruiser 7.4 mpi. It wants to turn over about 5 times before starting. I was told the fuel is probably draining back to tank and not holdiong pressure is the system. Where is the valve located at? Is it in the fuel tank?

Thanks

Same with my 1998 454s. Subsequent starts on the same day are easy.

I thought MPI had elect. fuel pumps...
I have carb'ed engines and the tank outlets have backflow preventers(fancy name for check valve).
They are small ball/spring type that screw into the tank the have a KC nipple on the outlet
to push the hose onto it.

NOPE. With carbs you have to contend with evap and backflow. Deal with it. It is what it is.
The engineers at the time did the best they could with what they had.

I have the same problem with my gennie. Once it is warmed up, it starts every time w/i a 48 hour period with no problem.

Beats the alternative.

hey Kida--I don't have carb. I have multiport injection. there is a check valve I guess. it is suppose to be in the fuel tank to keek pressure in the system.
