Ordered 2 fuel filters for my Genny thru the mail over the internet.

I get them and they look like this:

You think they are safe to use?
The paper looks fine, just looks like top got a little rusty.

No dents. Those are the pinch points. Just Rusty. I think they smell musty too like they were in a damp place.
I contacted WIX as I am sure they don't want thier product out there like this.
They were in plastic bags, but usually filters are wrapped in tight shrinkwrap.
These were just poly bags that were sealed but not wrapped tight.

Isn’t there supposed to be an outer flat or O-ring seal? It looks to be missing. I’d buy new at NAPA

Not being shrink wrapped sounds like they were opened and then resold. A simple genny may not care but why risk it?Somebody's old stock. Send them back

There is probably nothing wrong with them. But I still would want ones that at least look brand new. Not new old stock.

Those two statements alarm me. Send them back or take the hit and get new ones.

I have thrown away brand new OEM filters with rust on them. Rust flakes off in particles from very small to very large. Why take the chance?

Agree, they told me to throw them out and they will refund.
Oh well.
