H, I'm new to boating and have a 1999 Regal 242 commodore. I have a few problems that I hope other Regal owners can help with. 1 brown water seems to be gathering under the floor in the area around the shower pump.I have checked the hoses and the casing of the pump and they seem ok. The water seems to come from a one inch pipe heading off in the stern direction.Where does this go?. 2 on ignition and under way the fuel gauge shows half full no mater how much fuel is actually on board. With ignition off the gauge reads zero.

If I remember correctly the shower sump collects water from the head and galley sinks along with the shower and the a/c condensation pan if equiped, then discharged overboard via the pump.
I would run the shower and check to be certain the float switch and pump are operating correctly and the collector box is not overflowing. Also check for leaks along the discharge hose.

If this area is a low point in the forward hull, water can accumulate from many other sources. This will take some time to find!

Water in the shower sump area usually comes from a leak in the fresh water tank in the front of the boat. It travels from compartment to compartment but cannot get to the bilge because it is restricted in the compartment that holds the fuel.(prevents a fuel leak getting into the engine compartment)
It may apear that it is comming from the drain where the gas tank is but that is because you are putting weight on the front of the boat and the water flows backward.

The test is to empty the fresh water tank and then remove all the water in the area below the shower pump.(You may have to do this a couple of times to get it all)

If this has solved your water problem you will have to gain access to the tank under the floor.

You can check the rest of the water system by leaving the water pump on with all the taps closed. Unless a tap leaks your pump should not cycle on and off( If it does you have a leak in the system after the pump.( my pump is behind the fridge.)

As for the shower sump you can see if it is full or not. (not likely the problem.)

The water color is likely from dirt in the bottom of the boat. (this area is usually dry and gets dirty)

Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I'll carry out a few more tests this weekend. Has anyone got any ideas on the fluctuating fuel gauge?
