In the past I have found that at least for diesel pricing it was very close to the price in land. The discount for the off road diesel it off set by the increase for marina pricing. If I recall gas was usually 50 cents more then in land pricing.
This is just an approximation and NY pricing not NJ.
Prices inland in Haverstraw are $3.67, $3.77 and $3.95 (regular, mid and premium)respectively. The .50/gallon mark up model no longer seems to be the case.
Is the pump at Tarrytown open? That's a 24hr self serve too. In the past, Haverstraw was always competitive but now I may have to be an opportunist and get gas whenever I can where it's priced better.
Anybody confirm the fuel in the tank is NEW and not the stuff sitting there when Sandy topped the vent? I rarely fuel up prior to Memorial Day when I know they had at least 1 new fuel delivery, but I pulled out prior to Sandy with only 1/4 tanks.
Just curious. Do they allow tanker deliveries in NY. We get them in VA all the time. Mostly diesel big boats due to the 1000 gallon minimum. Not hard to do when you get 5 or so 40 plus footers together saving close to a buck a gallon.
My marina is $1.00 higher than the street for 89 octane valvtect ethanol laden fuel. Folks are livid and starting to cart 20 gallons down at a clip in Jerry cans. There is a ramp a few miles up the river and it would not surprise me to see fuel dispensed from there in the near future by some enterprising kid.
I think it's more that the marinas don't allow it. Those that sell fuel don't want the competition, some have insurance prohibitions and, some don't want fuel trucks, and some just don't want to let you do it.
Wow. We should be happy here in Haverstraw. I guess the laws of supply and demand are once again proven valid. I never did understand why we have to pay more on the water as theoretically it should be less as there is no road taxes. I guess it's the same reason you get screwed on boat parts. Because they can. Not enough options. Of course if you feel you are being gouged you can always call the local authorities. I'm sure they would come running to help out boaters. Haha
You pay road tax in VA. You have to request reimbursement. The Commonwealth hopes you forget. Boaters are trying to get that law changed to one that would convert the "road tax" on marina fuel to a waterfront improvement tax. No luck so far.
