Gallons per hour

We have been on the road for 4 months and 12 days ....of our 6 month trip. We traveled about 6500 miles .....thru 12 different states so far....burned though over $5k in diesel fuel. We average 7.8 MPG towing our Honda CRV. Campground / Resort fees are similar to marina costs. The final stats won't be figured until we get back to Florida in November.

The only difference between the boat and the motorhome is ......the motorhome only has ONE engine and ONE fuel tank. Although I wish I had 2 tanks when in Texas.... diesel was $3.19 per gallon :)

"The only difference between the boat and the motorhome is ......the motorhome only has ONE engine and ONE fuel tank"

That and you are getting 7.8 MPG I don't know of any boat other then a row boat that can do this!

comparing to a motorhome is not quite the same. Fuel is much less and campsites are a minimu of 1/2 of what a slip is for a night. Routine Maintanance is also much less. Storage fees, winterization, No seasonal dockage (maybe a small monthly storage fee)The cost of the unit is usually less than a boat.
Although still a very expensive hobby I am not sure you can compare costs to boating.
But both are allot of fun and bring many great memories to the table.

$5.00+ a foot?

NO .....not quite....but it is 7 nights every week ....30 nights every month....6 months or more ....every year. It does add up.
The most we paid per night this trip so far was $125 ....we only stayed there 2 1/2 weeks

True.....but we don't do Walmart camping.....we leave that for the white trash.

"White Trash"? Like Justice Clarence Thomas? I don't think he fits either of those two words. :-)

"We have been in dozens of Wal-Mart parking lots throughout the country, actually it’s one of our favorite things to do if we’re not having to plug in and we’ve got enough electricity and all that. But you can get a little shopping in, see part of real America. It’s fun!"

Good for Clarence......he can have our spot in the Walmart parking lot to camp with his couple million dollar Prevost.....because we won't be there.

Got it. You'll be in the Target parking lot.

Yeah..... yeah .....Target parking lot.....that's the place .....yup.

I've gone a couple hundred miles north the last week into Canada. I'm burning around 3-4 gph most of the time, or about 2.2mpg. My boat weighs around 44,000 pounds, and it don't want to buy fuel again before returning to the US. I took on about 250 gallons for the trip. Plan to be gone another week or two is the weather holds.

I don't blame you for not wanting to buy fuel up here... lol
Where abouts are you?

Walmart is missing an opportunity by not installing hookups...
