Gas and Diesel Prices

I took a ride by car to the fuel dock at Bergen Point on Saturday.
Gas:
Regular: $3.79 gal
Premium $3.89 gal
Diesel: $4.09 gal

Kind of thinking that this is not fresh fuel (last years fuel) but could be wrong.
Diesel seems a little low compared to the $4.39 prices I have seen on land.

I spoke with one of the guys that run the pumps at the Anchorage; he's telling me that by Memorial Day (when gas usually goes up in price), the price on land is going to exceed $4.00 per gal and on the water we will be in the high fours or $5.00 a gallon.

What prices have you seen on the water?

Also what's up with home heating oil ? Passed an oil place today and the price for 200 gal delivery was $3.89 a gallon.
 
That's got to be last year's fuel, by us, as of last week:

At Haverstraw Marina:

Diesel $4.269/Gal.

89 Octane Gasoline $3.959/Gal

Putting 300 gallons into the tanks this year is going to be VERY costly!
 
Sounds like old prices...

This is the average around that I found at gas dock. I think Babylon is a bit less. Lot's of fishing boats.

Regular: $4.14 gal
Premium $4.35 gal
Diesel: $4.79 gal
 
Wonder what Direct Marine Fuel ( delivered ) is going to cost this year. Last year it was anywhere from $3.47 to $3.89 for 89 octane.

Gas at $3.80 at 200 gallons is $760.
Gas at $5 at 200 gallons is $1000
Is another $240 gonna break the bank?
I do about 1000 gallons a year. An extra $1 is gonna cost me an extra $1000.
In the scheme of thing its still relatively cheap!
Either get over it or buy a sailboat!

a thousand gallons a year ?? WTF... u must have barnacles all up and tru that boat sir... whats that like 30 - 40 hrs of boating ??? Burn some real fuel and then talk ...

Yeah I agree...........I never seen a Armored Truck in a funeral procession yet !!!

If I recall, last year I burned 2500 +/- gal of diesel.

The increased prices are going to be annoying, but I can't see keeping a boat and not using it.

We're not gonna leave anything to the kids anyway. :D
 
It's about 50 hours. I admit, I don't go far, usually only take 1 long trip.
Would love to spend more time on the boat if I can.
Perhaps this year I will.
 
I get fuel at Anchorage which is shell.
This gets be a .10 discount and then another 5% back from Shell.
I pay it off right away.

When its not shell, I have a Chase Freedom card which is 3% back on gas.

I didn't realize Discover was 5% on gas. Will look into that.

I get free gas when I wait for Walter to fill up and the siphon it off. That is why he is always complaining about his burn rate!

Thats barely a 1/10 of a tank! Chase Freedom is a full 3% with no limit!
 
So the big question is whether or not Direct Marine fuel is registered with the CC companies as a 'gas station' otherwise only the lower rebate amounts will apply.

I burned about 1800 gallons of fuel last year, $5.00 x 1800 = $9,000.00, enough is enough. Its not about the cost, but more important the value. 9k can buy a lot of cruises during the year
 
STOP THE MFING CRYING..... Gas to high sell the boat.... This is a boating forum not a whine for me forum.... someone enforce the c/s rules....

sorry bad day at work....

I did save on my car insurance though....

Who cares what gas will cost !!!!...........Its not even close to what was spent on college educations & cars for my kids ( X 2 ) ...........now boating is all we do !!!!.....F it !!!!!
