I like where I am, but would love to go to Smithfield Station. It puts the bay and a lot of fun things closer. Unfortunately, that makes the trip from home to the boat over an hour. That's just outside my comfort zone. Maybe next year.

Till last year, all of our boating life has been with the boat within a couple of miles of our homes. This has been great with the ability to just run down to the boat for a sec to do something / anything. Now all trips to the boat are more planned.
However I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was that Ba$$tard Rob that got me thinking this way & I owe him! ;-)
I thought the hr+ drive to get to out east to the boat would be a PITA, but I really like driving my car and the rest of the crew don’t seem to mind. Stopping by the farm stands or for some wine tasting is not that bad .
We’re now staying at a great Brewers yard, which is kept up like a resort & the overall cost to me is less than a not so great yard in Huntington. I also get 6 free transit nights at other Brewers yards & most are as nice in good locations.
We really enjoyed exploring the east end by car and used the boat as base. Fuel then is no big thing!
I know some of you guys live on the NS and keep your boats on the SS. Driving out east is not much more time
After 30+ years of boating the same waters we just keep expanding our trips to see new places. And then when you find some really neat place you want to go back even though they may be 5-10 hrs at 22+knts
Block is now a little over an hour saving 3+(each way) hrs of running time and not giving it a second though of going. We can run there for dinner or mudslides if we want, no planning needed. BTW at $5 a gallon that’s over $500 saving, each way!

If you could deal with the 30-40 mile ride to Stamford or Norwalk it opens up the sound to you with a 3+-hr savings each way.
Then again there is nothing wrong with hanging on the hook and chillin with friends, just watch out for flying Bud’s!
