Gasket Maker For New Exhaust Manifolds and Risers

Well for one is the 1300 plus dollars just for the parts. These 3 piece big block exhaust pieces are friggin expensive!!!

Which brand of exhaust parts are you guys buying? I think OSCO is now Sierra or some version of that.
I feel the price pain. Our 3" spacers along with the long stud kit for them, jack an outrageous price even higher. I'm just glad we have a V8 small block and not the V6 where manifolds cost more for less.
Our motor box area is TIGHT!!! I think I have a plan for next time I do the job. Once it's all stripped and ready for install:
Manifold First. Place wooden block where Spacer goes. Connect Riser and Exhaust Bellows using block as support. THEN tie Riser up, remove wooden block. Install Gaskets, Spacer, and Stud Kit. Sprain Wrist writing Check to pay AmEx bill.

The parts I used were OEM Volvo Penta, the risers I've had for many years and the manifolds were purchased very early last year. The manifolds aren't of the exact original '96 configuration but are rebadged BARR castings. They worked well on this 5.8FSi power plant. Glad I anticipated replacement and ordered the two different risers early in the game as they are no longer available from Volvo Penta. Need to continue on the Boat Prep today. Enjoy.

The stuff I got was all sierra, ordered through the local marina where they don't mark up parts at all and free shipping. That was the best I could do for pricing.
Though I did see one of the online places had a kit of exactly everything I needed for 1300, not sure of the shipping costs...
I don't know if you can even get this stuff in OEM Crusader, when I was searching I don't recall anything like that coming up.

Ran well on the Lake this morning BUT did have to clean rust flakes from around the 160 degree thermostat. Was running cool <160 then was >172. There was rust flakes under the thermostat top hat and quantity of flakes jammed in the bi-metallic spring jamming its movement. Also pulled and then replaced the raw water impeller, the old one was just fine but I wanted to make sure that there were no damaged or missing blades contributing to the temp oddities.
Still no water leaks from the manifold and riser installation and the riser temps are nice and cool and almost the same temp.
